We Just Had To Stop!

We just had to stop! While traveling through Louisiana, we went through West Monroe to see if the T.V. show Duck Dynasty’s headquarters was a real place. It was easy to find located just off the interstate. After turning down the street that the Duck Commanders’ headquarters was supposed to be located, we immediately knew we had found it. The huge R.V. which has been in several episodes was parked out front.  The R.V. has Phil, Si, Jase, Godwin, and Willie’s pictures all down the side of it which definitely told us we were in the right place.

Duck Dynasty is about a family business called Duck Commander that was started by Phil Robertson who built the company one duck call at a time. He took orders and shipped them from his home. Today, Duck Commander is over a million dollar company.  It is run by one of Phil and Kay’s sons named Willie who is the CEO.  The money and success did not change the Robertson men.  They still live off the land and hunt and fish.  They are also known for their Grizzly Adams type long beards. The family works together, takes orders from Willie (or not), plays together, hunts together, cooks together, sews together, has disagreements with each other, complains about one another but the one thing they always do is get along at the end of the show.  They come together around the dinner table and PRAY to THANK GOD for their food and for their family before each meal. Recipes For Our Daily Bread is all about finding things that families can do together like cooking and having fun while honoring God. I especially encourage families to spend time not only in the kitchen with the entire family but also around the table praying and eating together.  Duck Dynasty does a lot of things that we may not try but they definitely do one thing we should all try which is spending great family time around the table.

Do you and your family pray around the table? Is prayer important to you? Comment below!

I really enjoy being a contributing blogger for the Oodles Blog. I pray each of my posts will bring Glory to God.

Blessings Always,

About Diane R.

I have been married for 27 years. I am a Christian mom who tries day by day to teach our children that God loves them and He has a special plan for their lives. I love spending time in the kitchen teaching my children to cook while sharing the Word of God. I grew up in an alcoholic home, but God still pursued me and I became a Christian at age 18. My husband and I have five children. Our oldest daughter, Carly, is currently in college studing pre-med. She hopes to one day go on medical missions. We have 15 year old twins named Casey and Caleb. Caleb has had 17 brain surgeries. He has a shunt, cerebral palsy, and seizures. God uses Caleb to teach our family every day what is important. Casey loves sports and Contemporary Christian Music. Our youngest two children, Jonah and Diana, were adopted at age 7 1/2 and 4. They are now 13 and 9. They have RAD (Reactive Attachment Disorder) which was caused by trauma during the first few years of life. It is a challenge to teach them everyday that we love them and God loves them. I currently have one child that is homeschooled, two children in public school, one child in a Christian school, and one in college. Life can get busy, but I have learned how important it is to always make time for God. You will see me blog often about the life lessons that God uses to humble me and draw me closer to Him. My prayer is that by sharing my experiences with others, it might help someone. I currently have a recipe blog at www.recipesforourdailybread.com, where I share our family's favorite recipes, favorite places, and more. You can read more about our adoption story at www.sweeptheword.com.

My family would have been so excited to see that bus! We just recently discovered the show thanks to some friends and have been able to watch last season. I like that no matter what the day holds, they still gather together as a family and thank God for their many blessings.
