Ready To Play

After nine months, Casey is now ready to play football again. You may know from an earlier post that Casey hurt his ACL, MCL, and Meniscus last October during a football game. After surgery and months and months of therapy, he is now been released to play football again. He missed being able to play baseball the entire season.  He went to every game and supported the team from the sidelines which truly built lots of character. He is in the 10th grade which means he moved up this year to the senior high football team.  This week he had his first football game of the season.  It was a scrimmage game at home. Casey was able to play some on both the offensive and the defense.  He was thrilled!  God is blessing him with the drive and determination to overcome a bad injury and set an example for others not to give up.  This injury has helped Casey learn to depend and trust God more. He has also learned at a very young age that God is in control of everything that happens.

In my earlier post, I talk about Drew Brees’ book Coming Back Stronger. After shoulder surgery, Drew Brees worked extremely hard to be able to play professional football again.  He was later signed to the New Orleans Saints and as history is recorded won SUPER BOWL 44.  We keep telling Casey to never give up and that he too can come back stronger. Recovery has not been easy with therapy two to three times each week, lots of ice, and pain, but he is ready to play.  He is not as quick as he used to be which really bothers him, but he continues to work hard and still loves playing.  We are looking forward to watching him play a game that he truly loves.  My prayer is that God will bless him with safety, confidence, and the ability to continue to be a great example to others.

I really enjoy being a contributing blogger for the Oodles Blog. I pray each of my posts will bring Glory to God.

Blessings Always,

About Diane R.

I have been married for 27 years. I am a Christian mom who tries day by day to teach our children that God loves them and He has a special plan for their lives. I love spending time in the kitchen teaching my children to cook while sharing the Word of God. I grew up in an alcoholic home, but God still pursued me and I became a Christian at age 18. My husband and I have five children. Our oldest daughter, Carly, is currently in college studing pre-med. She hopes to one day go on medical missions. We have 15 year old twins named Casey and Caleb. Caleb has had 17 brain surgeries. He has a shunt, cerebral palsy, and seizures. God uses Caleb to teach our family every day what is important. Casey loves sports and Contemporary Christian Music. Our youngest two children, Jonah and Diana, were adopted at age 7 1/2 and 4. They are now 13 and 9. They have RAD (Reactive Attachment Disorder) which was caused by trauma during the first few years of life. It is a challenge to teach them everyday that we love them and God loves them. I currently have one child that is homeschooled, two children in public school, one child in a Christian school, and one in college. Life can get busy, but I have learned how important it is to always make time for God. You will see me blog often about the life lessons that God uses to humble me and draw me closer to Him. My prayer is that by sharing my experiences with others, it might help someone. I currently have a recipe blog at www.recipesforourdailybread.com, where I share our family's favorite recipes, favorite places, and more. You can read more about our adoption story at www.sweeptheword.com.
